What sets Harlow & MacGregor apart from other fine teak furniture? Here are two reasons why our furniture rises to the top:
Sustainably-Harvested Teak: Nearly all of the country’s teak is purchased from plantations in the Far East and Pacific Islands. These plantations are built to produce fast-growing wood with the intention of creating the fastest turnover in production. There is a problem with this; it leads to a quality that is far from superior. The wood is less dense, and has a lighter color.
Our teak is not plantation
grown. Our growers selectively harvest only the highest grade of teak from Myanmar. Our teak is very dense, and darker in color. It takes many years for lumber to grow to this quality. Our growers know and understand this. They also replant any trees that are removed. It is more environmentally friendly than plantation growing.
Quality of the build: Our furniture is built to stand the test of time. Although our teak is already denser and heavier than the competition, our craftsmen also build tables, chairs, and benches that are thicker in cut. This results in a beautiful piece that can withstand all of what life has to throw at it. How can you tell? You’ll just have to see for yourself!
